Faith Formation
Our Christian faith drives everything we do here at West End, and we work tirelessly to ensure that all people feel God’s love and grow in their relationship with the Divine.
Weekly worship is essential: it’s a once-weekly ritual to pause and give thanks to God in community, to bask in a sense of wonder and mystery, and to turn to God in prayer. Our services are thoughtfully led by our pastor, Rev. William Critzman, who leads us in a “timeless liturgy that our grandparents would recognize with the progressive theology our children need.” Anchored by thought-provoking sermons and beautiful, high-quality music, we leave church on Sundays feeling more connected with God and with each other.
We also hold religious education programs for adults and children on Sunday mornings, with Adult Learning happening at 10 am and Children’s Sunday School taking place during the church service at 11. We also integrate religiously-themed classes into our regular suite of programs.
Finally, we always encourage our community members to meet for private group Bible study! With a team of three trained theologians on staff, we’re always ready for a friendly round of “stump the pastor.”

In addition to being a gifted preacher, our pastor, Rev. William Critzman, is a certified psychotherapist.
Pastor Will’s training helps him teach Scripture through a human lens, acknowledging our frailty while appealing to our immense capacity for good. Will translates complex concepts into understandable ones, drawing from a wide range of source material (including, but not limited to, his three dogs: Rumpus, Toby, and Mr. Hazel).
