Community Programs

The studies are in! More and more research is showing how essential in-person human interaction is for overall wellbeing. “Third places” like cafes, libraries, parks–and, yes, churches–are important to our social fabric: places where people can come together in informal ways to feel less alone.

For that reason, West End Church has programs for everyone! In addition to being a church, we are also a community center that believes that human connection is fundamentally good. The loneliness epidemic is real, and we have shared space where Upper West Siders can get to know their neighbors. Regardless of whether you consider yourself a churchgoer, we encourage you to plug into any of our community programs–all of which are ecumenical and low- or no cost. Wellness

Recognizing the interconnectedness of physical and mental health with spiritual wellbeing, West End is committed to hosting programs that support wellness in all forms. These include:

  • Free Mat Yoga

  • Free Chair Yoga

  • AA Meetings

  • Pastoral Counseling (by appointment)

All of our fellowship programs are designed to facilitate a sense of belonging within a larger community, which is absolutely essential for longterm health. Please make a point of incorporating regular fellowship time into your weekly and monthly routines!

In addition to its own programs, West End Church also hosts two scout troops and an AA group on its campus.

Mariel Sanchez brings our Community Programs to life! With extensive experience in theater production, Mariel helps make sense of all the components that go into making church happen.

In addition to helping with operations and logistics for justice programs like Tuesday Table, Mariel brings their creative flair to fellowship events like Game Nights, Halloween Hallways, and the Christmas Pageant–anything that requires a sense of drama! If you’re interested in putting your artistic talents to use at West End, Mariel is a great person to get to know.
