West End Wednesdays
West End Wednesdays gather many of our programs together under one roof and make our community visible! From midweek meditation to children’s programming to music rehearsals, there’s something for everyone.
West End Wednesday are meant to be a coming-together time—different from what we do on Sundays, and organized around an affordable weekly meal, cooked by our own Chef Debbie
($10, and kids 10 and under eat free!). The table is open to all: all of our Wednesday programs are designed to be interfaith and community-based.
Schedule of Events
Open Sanctuary (12-1 pm): Come sit in our beautiful sanctuary and pray, meditate, or simply rest in order to gather your strength for the remainder of the week.
Children’s Hour (5:30-6:30 pm): Join our teaching staff for a rotating series of age-appropriate class offerings supporting universal and community-based values of kindness, cooperation, leadership, problem-solving, curiosity, and flexible thinking. (FREE. Limited to 12 students.)
Midweek Sanctuary Meditation (6 pm): Come to our sanctuary and breathe a little bit of the sacred into your busy week. With the exception of the Holy Communion service on the third Wednesday of each month, these are interfaith services–so please come, take a beat, and enjoy our sacred space while following timeless rituals in community.
“Upstairs” Youth Program (7-8 pm): Want to meet other middle and high schoolers in the neighborhood and talk about things in a safe, non-judgmental, multifaith space? Come upstairs to the loft and have a gathering of your own, where we can wrestle with questions as big or small as you need…or just play some fun games and blow off some steam! (Grade 6 and older.)
Community Chorus: Since its origins in 1990, the West End Community Chorus has celebrated joyful communal music-making. Now, it is a vibrant, talented, and open community full of friends old and new! Come sing under the baton of Music Director Derrick Byars and enjoy warm fellowship as the days grow colder.
